One of the main material requirements that have been increasing continuously during the past years is strength. This aim is of paramount importance from the economic, social and environmental point of view and the success in reaching this objective enables the reduction of the weight and dimension of components and structures.

Nonetheless, in most applications, the high strength requirement is not the only one. Others like high toughness, good performance in certain aggressive environments, weldability, formability, fatigue and fracture resistance are also required.

Considered among other materials, steels have marked advantages regarding cost and recycling. Thus it is a researcher's and steel producer's challenge to get a satisfactory good combination of the required properties to make possible the use of high strength steels (HSS) in as many demanding applications as possible. The interaction with the users is another key aspect to get positive results.

The aim of the Conference is to provide a forum for researchers, producers and users to discuss the state of the art and future possibilities of high strength steel development and applications.

Members of leading market sectors that demand HSS such as Automotive, Mechanics, Oil & Gas and Energy production and transmission are welcomed to present their current and principally their future requirements. On the production side, steel producers are invited to show their latest products and the processes to obtain them.

The Research Centers will be the third essential participants, presenting their activities focused on new alternatives to face the future challenge regarding material properties.
